Research Tips!

Schedule your time!

Make a plan, set deadlines for yourself and stick to them!

Try Wikipedia

Read an article on Wikipedia to get an overview of your topic.  Note the key terms, people, phrases and timeframe involved.

What is your question?  What do you want to know?

Start with a basic question and define your thesis after some research.

Organize!

Keep all your work in ONE place.  Label and date your work.  Keep track of your sources.

Sources

Use multiple TYPES of sources; books, encyclopedias, reference materials, web sites, academic journals, newspapers.  Try using the school's databases - they have the journals and reference materials.  EVALUATE each source; how does it help your project, is its publication date relevant to your work, who is the author, why was this work published?
